cardiff bute park

The race will take place at Bute Park, North Rd, Cardiff CF10 3DX on Sunday 31st May at 10am.

A hidden gem within Cardiff’s city centre, Bute Park is a gorgeous parkland featuring lovely scenery and a nationally renowned array of unique beautiful trees.

A flat, two-lap course, it is ideal for runners of all abilities and a fantastic entry-level route for those running their first 10K.

5K option

This year there will also be a 5K option in association with This Girl Can – a steady, one lap race, perfect for those running their first mass-participated event.

Goody bag

All entrants will receive a free goody bag, filled with quality kit and nutritional goods and finishers will receive an event t-shirt and medal for their achievements.

Celebrity spot!

TV comedy star Ruth Jones, known for her comic roles in Gavin and Stacy and Stella, will be running in the event. Getting into running last year after being part of a three-person relay team in the Cardiff Half, Ruth fell in love with the sport. Ruth will be pulling together a team with her work colleagues and is urging everyone to get involved, whatever their ability. You can read about Ruth’s running journey here and WATCH an inclusive interview with Ruth about running in our Cardiff race here.

Every day between now and the event, Ruth will be blogging about her daily training. Read her daily updates here.

Running for Alzheimer’s Society

This year, our leading charity race partner is Alzheimer’s Society. Many people know someone affected by dementia. The society reveals that 850,000 people in the UK will have a form of dementia by 2015 and in less than ten years, this will grow to over a million people. Working to find a cure for this debilitating disease but also to support those living with the condition, the society relies on charity funding to make this happen and we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to help raise funds for the charity through the Series.

Forty four-year-old Rachel Goldthorpe from Cardiff will be running in the event for Alzheimer’s Society. Having directly experienced a loved one suffering with dementia disease, Alzheimer’s Society is a charity extremely close to Rachel’s heart. Read her story here.

A range of pacers will also be there on the day, covering various times to help you to achieve your time and support you along the way. Meet the pacers here.
