Brooks and parkrun to join forces to inspire more people to run

parkrun are teaming up with footwear giant Brooks to get more people running

Footwear brand Brooks have long maintained the philosophy that running should be inclusive: “There’s no wrong way to run,” as managing director Matt Dodge puts it, “there’s just the way you run.” That’s why they seem like the perfect partner for parkrun, the worldwide weekly 5K run that’s free for anyone to enter.

parkrun hold timed 5K runs every Saturday morning in over 1,400 locations across the globe, but their new partnership with Brooks focusses on UK-based events. Brooks will be rolling out a bespoke activation zone across the UK and Ireland where runners will have the opportunity to try our their running shoes and speak to a coach to get personalised advice. We spoke to Matt Dodge to learn more.

“We’re going to start by offering our key shoes: the GTS, Ghost, Levitate and Bedlam. We’ll have a decent size breakdown so people of different foot sizes can try them on in a low-stress environment. You’ll come to the activation zone, you’ll have the ability to try on these shoes for free, and then when you get done with your run you’ll come back and there’ll be a coach who is able to talk through that experience with you, maybe give you some fitting advice,” he explained. “We’ll be using our shoe-finder technology to help people find the right shoe for them.”

Both brands plan to use this partnership to focus on runners, bringing their stories to light. “We want to talk to park-runners about their story and what running means to them, why they’ve come into running and then to help them tell that story,” Matt told us. “The stories behind how people come into this sport are so motivational and they’re so human. We want to be able to give these runners the ability to tell their story and be part of that with them.”

Brooks are planning on talking to runners at parkrun to help them create their own Run Happy Ever After story, giving them a platform that they hope will, in turn, encourage more people to give running a go.

Every weekend, there are more than 900 parkruns up and down the country designed to encourage people to get active and feel part of a community. The Brooks event zones at selected events allow people to share their experiences and gain expert advice on how to enhance their parkrunning journey.”
