Zeal is a brand new dating app designed to connect people based on a shared interest in sport, rather than looks

We know that dating in the age of the internet can be a tough one, let alone during a pandemic. It can feel easier to just abandon the whole thing and spend weekends with your run pals instead! That’s where Zeal comes in.

Zeal is the creation of Izzy, a keen runner and cyclist from London. She wants to revolutionise the dating scene by helping people to connect based on a shared love of sport, rather than looks.

“I’ve always been so amazed how welcoming everyone in the sports world has been to me. Whether it’s joining club runs, or cycling with new friends, everyone has made me feel like I was part of an amazing community,” she says. “I wanted to translate this into the online dating space, in the hope to create more genuine and meaningful relationships.”

She has first-hand experience of how great a mutual passion for sport can be, having met her partner at a local running club.”During lockdown, I really realised how thankful I am to have a partner who loves sport as much as I do” she says. “He always supports my running and even helped crew me to a Fastest Known Time record for running across the width of the UK.”

So, how does it work? “During sign-up, users can select their favour sport or sports, which  will determine who they get matched with,” explains Izzy. “Once matched with a partner, whether you choose to go for a weekend ride, a walk in the park or a beer in your local pub, we’re sure that you’re going to have plenty of things to talk about!”

Zeal is currently in London, with plans to expand to the rest of the UK soon. It already has 500+ members – you can find out how to sign up here. or download the app via the App Store or Google Play.
