Natasha Lewis, who represented the UK at bobsleigh and triathlon events, has died aged 28 while out on a morning run
Tributes have been pouring in for keen runner and Team GB athlete Natasha Lewis, who passed away last week. She was reportedly struck by a car on her morning run and sadly died at the scene near Peasedowne St John.
Natasha, a personal trainer, started running at the age of eight and was a member of the Team Bath Athletic Club. The club shared a statement on their Instagram describing her as “a formidable character and athlete” who was “determined and committed, full of life and positive energy.” According to the club she was aiming for elite status and another national vest, but that “behind her steely determination she was kind, caring and fun.”
Natasha was due to take part in this year’s Bath Half Marathon, and race organisers also paid tribute to her:
“As a former finisher at the Bath Half and a passionate advocate for health and fitness, we know Tash’s loss will be felt greatly particularly within the local running and fitness community.
“Tash had an entry in this year’s Bath Half aiming for an impressively fast time of 75 minutes. Her partner, Dave, will be running in her memory wearing her lucky race number 22 alongside close family members.
“Our thoughts are with her partner, family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up in her memory by her partner and has so far raised over £36,000 for her loved ones and for athletes in need of running shoes.
