Yes, you read that right! We find out why Michelle Visage is teaming up with ASICS to promote mental wellbeing through movement

If you’ve listened to our podcast, you’ll know how much Team WR love RuPaul’s Drag Race. So we were jumping for joy when we heard that Michelle Visage has teamed up with ASICS to help us get out and move for our mental wellbeing. We found out more…

ASICS have been championing the positive effects of exercise on wellbeing for quite some time now. We’ve really enjoyed getting involved in their previous mental health campaigns.

They’ve just launched a brand new one: the 15:09 Uplift Challenge. They want us to get moving (walking, running, swimming, dancing…the possibilities are endless!) for at least 15 minutes and 9 seconds. Why 15:09? ASICS’ research into wellbeing has shown that just over 15 minutes of exercise is enough to experience a mental uplift.

This is where Michelle comes in. She’s joined ASICS in their mission, sharing a sassy and motivational pep talk online to encourage people to move.

We all know that she’s a busy woman, and for Michelle, the short amount of time involved is key. “Listen, we’re all busier than ever right now. But health is still important. The facts are clear, you only need 15 minutes and 9 seconds of movement to improve your mental health. So, the next time you find yourself worrying over what emoji to use or offering advice to someone who you know won’t listen – stop and think about yourself, put that phone down, get your kit on my loves, and move for your mind.”

How to take part in the 15:09 Uplift Challenge

To take part, people simply need to move for at least 15:09 minutes to help uplift their mind and capture a video or image. Every video or image posted to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with #ASICS1509 during the month of June will raise funds for mental health charity Mind. We can’t wait to get involved!
