All the action we're looking forward to from our Brit runners this London Marathon...

We are so excited about the London Marathon this weekend, and a big part of that is because of the ridiculous levels of talent from our British runners. Yes, we love that the crowds will be back (albeit slightly slimmed down), and we can’t wait to see thousands of runners taking on the race of a lifetime. But what we also can’t wait for is the elite race – seeing those superhumans race that remarkable distance in some remarkable times. We spoke to three of the top British marathoners – Charlotte Purdue, Natasha Cockram and Samantha Harrison – to find out how excited they were about the race on Sunday.

Do you feel prepared for the marathon?

Charlotte: I couldn’t have asked for better preparation! Everything’s gone better than I expected. I’m definitely looking forward to it!

Natasha: This is my first marathon [training round] completely injury-free!

Samantha: The marathon is so unpredictable, but hopefully the training will pay off. I’m hoping for a big PB.

Are you excited?

Charlotte: I was disappointed not to get selected for the Olympics… but having the London Marathon gave me something to aim for – it’s as exciting as the Olympics! This will be my 7thmarathon, and I’ve done nine build-ups, so every time I find it a little easier and I can push it a little bit more.

Natasha: This will be my first elite marathon so I’m still really excited. You get a faster time when you have the crowds pushing you along.

Are you on track for a PB?

Charlotte: Based on my training I’d say yes. You can’t predict anything, but I’d say yes. I’ve got 2.23 in my head, but I’ll have to make the call with my coach!

Natasha: I want to break 2.30 barrier!

Samantha [playing her cards close to her chest!]: All the hard work’s done now, so I’m just chilling out!

We can’t wait to see these incredible women take on the marathon on Sunday – we will be glued to the TV. Find out more about the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon.
