Inside the July issue of Women’s Running

Author: Holly Taylor

The July issue of Women's Running is out now! Here's what's in store...

The July issue of Women’s Running is about how important running is to us. Far from being a hobby, running is part of our DNA: it makes us part of who we are.

Our cover star, Milly, is the living embodiment of that. After losing her leg three years ago in a tragic accident, Milly has used her running to support both her physical and mental health, and her positivity and optimism practically shines from her.

To help us all achieve a similar state of mind, we’ve included the very best training plans: how to get to your very first 5K, and how to achieve a PB in your next one. With parkrun (hopefully) arriving in next to no time, this couldn’t have been better timed. It’s time to get parkrun perfect!

In this issue, we also take our conversations about running and safety one step further, by acknowledging that black women’s experiences of harassment can often carry the double whammy of misogyny and racism.

We also talk about how we can employ hypnotherapy to combat those IRL race day nerves, we delve into paddleboarding and what it can offer runners, and we have the very latest shoes – road and trail – ready for all your summer running. Have fun out there!

Here are the highlights…

5K PLAN: The ultimate 5K training plan for every runner

CLINIC: Is a massage gun the answer to all your recovery woes?

RACISM & RUNNING: Black women runners tell us the distressing truth about battling racism and misogyny

WARRIOR: Milly Pickles shares her story, from blade running to her sprinting ambitions

ESSENTIAL KIT: All the latest off-road shoes, summer shorts and beach workout gear put to the test

PREGNANCY & RUNNING: Everything you need to know about physical activity if you decide to get pregnant

BOOTCAMP: Could paddleboarding be the killer core workout you’re looking for?
