Today, I was nervous. I was completely dreading my run today, even though my #Sunday #longrun is one of my favourite things. This week on my @nikerunning #halfmarathontraining plan I had a 10 miler. My last two long runs have been awful; no stamina, poor hydration and trouble breathing. Frustrated, I decided to invest in a hydration pack, which is undoubtedly the best thing I’ve ever purchased running-wise. I’m the type of person who is always thirsty, so this completely changed my run today – running with a flask is not fun. Additionally, I listened to music – running my fastest splits to Last Resort by Papa Roach and Ironman by Black Sabbath. Lastly, I kept it slow. After reading countless articles and forums, this was the top advice for nailing long runs – so that’s what I did. Needless to say, it all paid off. One, lovely long run – with my only pause, to take this half-way #selfie. Remember, the moral of that old story “The Tortoise and the Hare” – slow and steady wins the race!
