Join ASICS’ pioneering study into the impact of exercise on our wellbeing

If you've ever wanted to know exactly how running affects your mood and mental health, you definitely need to try ASICS' new Mind Uplifter Tool

You might have read some of our other posts this year about ASICS’ awesome new research into running and wellbeing. Now, they’re inviting everyone to get involved with their brand new study into how different sports and exercise affect our mental wellbeing.

This world-first live study will use some seriously cool facial scanning tech to create a World Uplift Map, which will quantify the positive impact that sport is having on the collective mood of cities, nations and the world as a whole. ASICS is hoping that the results will deepen its understanding of the relationship between movement and the mind on a global scale.

To do this, ASICS have created a Mind Uplifter Tool (which is just as interesting as it sounds!) to capture our moods pre- and post-exercise. Using a combination of this technology and self-reported data collection, people will be able to see how different types of exercise affect them across 10 emotional and cognitive metrics, including confidence, positivity, calm and focus. And don’t worry – the tool doesn’t save any images of your face, so it’s all safe and secure GDPR-wise.

So, that’s the geeky bit done. How do we actually get involved?

  1. GO to to capture your Mind Uplift.
  2. SCAN your face to read your emotional state.
  3. ANSWER scientifically-developed questions to gauge your brain function.
  4. COMPLETE at least 20 minutes of exercise to uplift your mind.
  5. REPEAT steps two and three.
  6. GET your Mind Uplift results and SHARE them on social channels.with #UpliftingMinds
  7. SEE how your results contribute to the World Uplift Map (from July 1).
