We put this new sustainable trainer collection to the test! Read on for our Shu Da Living trainer review...
We all know that finding sustainable footwear is tough. We want something that’s comfortable, supportive and looks good. That’s quite a few boxes to tick!
Shu Da Living couldn’t find any shoes on the market that satisfied all of those demands, so they decided to make their own. They started a whole host of sustainable initiatives in the production of their products, using recycled materials that can be traced back to source, using biodegradable materials where possible and making sure all packaging is eco-friendly.
Starting in vegan slippers, they’ve now branched out into sustainable trainers, designed as everyday shoes for running errands, light exercise and those who are on their feet all day. (Side note: a doctor friend of mine tried my pair out for her busy days in the hospital, and has since bought her own!)
They come in two different styles: Jessica and Olivia. We got to try out both of them – read on for our review of Shu Da Living trainers.
Shu Da Living trainer review
Olivia | £55
These shoes are so easy to put on – their slip-on design is great, with tabs on the heel and tongue of the shoe for single-handed access. I was really impressed by how lightweight they were – I didn’t feel as though I was wearing anything on my feet! But that doesn’t mean they weren’t supportive. The soles of both this shoe and the Jessica contain high density EVA memory foam, which meant that they just got more comfortable as I wore them. They also have a woven sock-liner fit which hugged my ankle and didn’t rub once. I have quite narrow feet, which these shoes really allowed for. I’d say that if you have very wide feet, you might need to size up.
Available in sizes 4-9
Jessica trainers | £55
These trainers are also easy to slip on, but have the added security of a lace-up fastening that allows you to get the ideal fit. I found these to fit a little more loosely than the Olivia trainers – useful to bear in mind when choosing sizes. I’d say that these are better for more active days or for walks – the sole was a little bit thicker, which gave more support. They’re also super breathable, with a flyknit upper, so were perfect on warmer days when I wanted to keep cool but also protect my feet.
