Elevate ¾ Tight, £40
These multi-activity tights look great (they come in three colours) and are designed to work across any activity from running to the gym to yoga. The price is good for a technical pair of running tights.
We really liked the soft, breathable fabric on these tights, which is perfect for summer running. The pattern will either be to your taste or not – it’s a bit more subtle in the grey option. Fit is easy and flattering, with a wide panel in the tummy and a low-cut waist. The waist also has a drawcord to help you get the fit right, although our tester found that dug in a bit – possibly due to optimistic sizing on her part!
There’s a pretty generous zip pocket on the back of the tights – it won’t fit your phones in but is great for a couple of gels and your keys. Because of the location of the pocket, it doesn’t move too much when you run so you don’t get irritating jangling from its contents.
The one downside of these tights is that, in the purple colour we tried, they’re a bit sheer. You’ll want some running underwear to feel confident out and about in them.
Elevate Tank Tunic, £25
Designed with versatility in mind, the loose fit and ultra-light fabric makes this a great choice for hot weather. It’s made from a beautifully light, soft ribbed fabric and has a floaty fit from the ribs down – we wore it during the June heatwave and it was just perfect for running on really hot days. The racer back also helps prevent sweaty shoulders. Its loose fit makes it really flattering – it’s pretty sheer, but the shape means you can layer with either a racer-back sports bra or tighter running vest, depending on conditions. This was our favourite piece of the three and the price is perfect too.
This does what it says on the tin: it has a seamless construction for a really comfy fit with no chafing at all. With its short sleeves, snug fit and ribbed fabric, it’s a midweight piece that you could wear all year round in the UK – we didn’t get too hot during summer training but, for most of us, it would also suit spring and autumn days. Compared with the other pieces we tried, it does seem a little pricey, although its excellent fit, comfort and weight mean you could wear it any time – so from that point of view you’ll probably get a lot of wear for your cash.
