The best budget shoes from our 2020 Product Awards...

Best Budget Shoe: Winner
NIKE Air Zoom Pegasus 37 | £104.95

The Pegasus is a mainstay in the Nike running fold, and there’s good reason for that: it’s simply a great shoe. With cushioning and detailing you’d expect from shoes costing £20 or even £50 more, we’re thrilled that Nike has continued to upgrade and enhance this model. Esther said, “These were expectedly brilliant, even before you consider the cost. A reliable, neutral shoe, which feels almost slipper-like from the minute you put it on. After testing shoes that cost way more than this, I almost wasn’t expecting them to be this good. But then I remembered it was the Pegasus 37. If you’re starting out and are bewildered by choice (and price), you really don’t need to look any further than this.”

Best Budget Shoe: Editor’s Choice
COLUMBIA Trans Alps FKT£87.50

Supportive on rough terrain, with great cushioning and a trail protection plate, the FKT have decent lugs and feel so comfortable on, with no stiffness at all. They’re easy to get on and off, too, which is important with muddy socks and slippery fingers. And they’re on sale!
