blissfeel is lululemon's first foray into running shoes. They're designed exclusively for women, with a focus on providing the perfect fit for everyday miles

We were very excited to hear that lululemon were bringing out a running shoe designed exclusively for women. We really rate their running leggings and bras, so we couldn’t wait to put the blissfeel to the test – especially when we heard about all the research and development that has gone into the design.

The focus of the shoe is providing the perfect fit for women’s feet. “Most performance shoes are designed primarily for men, and often for elite male athletes, and then adapted for women,” says lululemon product creator Mark Oleson. “Yet, on average, women have distinctly different shaped feet. Women also move differently and have unique biomechanics – from where their heel strikes when they run to their centre of gravity.”

In order to create a shoe that supports female foot shapes and gait, the team did a whole lot of research. They studied the feet of more than a million women, did biomechanic studies and consulted with morphology specialists. But did their research pay off? Our tester Elena reports back with her lululemon blissfeel review…

How do the blissfeel fit?

I was really impressed with how well these fit, with no slipping or rubbing. They have an almost sock-like design around the ankle, which gives them a really comfortable and secure fit once you’ve got them on – though this does make actually getting them on a little bit harder than my other running shoes!

Are the blissfeel comfy?

I found these shoes to be comfortable from the first time I put them on. I ran in them several days in a row, and experienced no blisters or sore spots, which was great. They were also nicely cushioned, so my feet felt very supported through the run.

These shoes definitely felt different in fit and design to some of my other shoes – in a good way. I felt that they gave me lots of support, without being clunky or overly cushioned. I was also impressed by the grip, which held up well on drizzly London days.

I also absolutely loved the aesthetics of these shoes. I’m an all-black-everything kind of runner (though I did push the boat out and opt for the silver / alpine white combo in these) and so I loved the subtle colourways and detailing.

These shoes are designed for everyday miles, and I would say that they deliver in that respect. They’re comfortable without being too cushioned, and they give a little bit of bounce, but not so much that you’re pushed to run faster. They were also great for the gym, providing stability and support for my cross-training. A solid pair of running shoes that will see you through lots of steady miles.

Where can I buy blissfeel?
