Introducing Brooks’ Cascadia 16 trail shoe

Read Time:   |  August 8, 2021

This new trail running shoe offers improvements to help us rule the trails, whatever they throw at us

Brooks are a truly brilliant running shoe brand, and one of the things we love about them is that they never rest on their laurels: they’re always looking to improve.

Enter the Cascadia 16, which is joining their trail running collection. What’s different about it? We’ll tell you. It offers cushioning that is 10 percent softer and 20 percent lighter than previous versions. Brooks have aded more foam to the shoe for even more comfort, while the new midsole and outsole construction has unique release grooves that allow the shoe to mould easy to the ground, improving stability.

So, what does this all mean for the trail running experience in these shoes? The Cascadia 16 is perfect for runners who want to explore and feel protected on any terrain, thanks to that extra grip and stability. It’s designed to adapt quickly, so that we always feel comfortable and secure, while also being distraction-free.

“We are so excited to launch this shoe,” says Hugo Chouissa, Brooks Footwear Merchandiser EMEA. “We created the Cascadia to share our love of trails with all runners – they can now feel more confident while taking on the terrain.”

If you’re keen on technical trainer knowledge, here are all the details you need to know:

  • Enhanced adaptability
New midsole and outsole construction with unique release grooves, allowing the shoe to mould easily to the ground, ensuring the stable ride.
  • Softer Cushioning
An even lighter DNA LOFT V2 guarantees serious softness, so every step feels even more like running on air. To create this technology, Brooks has updated both the foam formula and its production method. What didn’t change is the cushion’s unique balance of foam, rubber, and air. The result? An even softer ride that lasts for miles without bottoming out or weighing runners down.
  • Flexible protection
The outsole with Ballistic Rock Shield provides for an ultimate protection against rocks, pebbles and debris and adapts to uneven terrains. The trail tack outsole offers grip and traction in wet and dry environments.
  • Weight
    The Cascadia 16 weighs 269g.
  • Added extras
This shoe will also be available with a GORE-TEX® upper (the Cascadia 16 GTX) that offers complete protection in inclement weather, because of the perfectly matching lightweight GORE-TEX® membrane that is bonded directly to the upper for a lighter, more flexible fit.

The Cascadia 16 (£120) and the Cascadia 16 GTX (£130) will be available from 8th August 2021 at selected retailers and at brooksrunning.com.
