First look at HOKA ONE ONE’s new unisex race shoe

Read Time:   |  June 10, 2020

HOKA ONE ONE have released a new endurance race shoe, the Unisex Carbon X-SPE

HOKA are back with a new race shoe that’s ideal for endurance runners: the Unisex Carbon X-SPE.

Like its predecessor, the Carbon X, this is a fast shoe designed to propel you as you run, boasting the customary carbon-fibre plate that has come to be associated with record breakers. This one, however, is responsive to your step and, along with an aggressive Meta-Rocker, makes for a seriously up-tempo ride.

Unlike other race shoes with a competitive edge, the Carbon X-SPE shoes have a soft side. Expect real comfort from the PROFLY X foam inner and avoid irritation with the innovative tongue-free design. As you’d except from a speed shoe, it’s tough – but it has an unexpected gentle feel to it that makes it a good fit for every day runners. Plus, it’s featherlight: even the outsole is made from lightweight rubberised foam.

At £170 it’s a more reasonable alternative to other carbon-plated race shoes on the market, and it looks sleeker and more streetwise, too. We can’t wait to try them out.
