Christmas Gift Guide: Running Tech

Read Time:   |  January 4, 2021

Here's our guide to the best running tech to put under the tree this Christmas...

Christmas tech has moved on in great strides over the years. Most new products can be used straight from the box without too much boring preamble and chunky manual reading, and there’s certainly less call for swear words from dad as he realises on Christmas Day that he has every battery under the sun apart from the one he needs.

Not what you’re looking for? Try these:

1. POLAR Ignite sport watch | £174.50

We love this reasonably-priced sports watch, which combines a simple interface with loads of features. Top finds for us were the sleep anaylsis and overnight recovery insights. The daily training guide, FitSpark, suggests workouts to enhance your overall fitness.

2. PULSEROLL Mini Massage Gun | £129.99

It’s small but mighty, and – like its larger sibling – the Mini massage gun uses rapid strokes to stimulate blood flow to the muscles, easing soreness and improving circulation and flexibility. It’s ultra-portable and can be shoved in your bag on race day, and lasts six hours between charges.

3. UNDER ARMOUR Phantom 2 shoes | £120

If you’re lucky enough to unwrap these, you’ll be able to wow everyone with their magic. Not only do they do all the amazing things you’d expect from an Under Armour shoe, they also connect via Bluetooth to the UA MAPMYRUN app, tracking and analysing your running metrics.

4. NURVV Run wearable tech | £249.99

We all start the year with big plans, but it’s easy to end up injured by February. NURVV Run is a little insole/widget combo for each shoe that analyses your running so you can perform better and avoid injuries.

5. McLEAR contactless ring | £89.99

It’s wise to carry money when you run (anyone else needed to hail an emergency cab?). Here’s a practical solution: wear this ring and tap it like a credit card. Mind blown.

6. BEATS Solo Pro headphones | £269.95

Run to the beat in these gorgeous on-ear headphones that provide an immersive audio experience. With safety in mind, the company has combined noise-cancelling tech with the ability to filter in environmental and ambient noise – so you stay aware of your surroundings.

7. COROS PACE 2 GPS Multisport Watch £179.99

Weighing just 29.7 grams, PACE 2 is the lightest GPS watch on the market and still packs up to an impressive 60 hours of battery. From its run, cycle, and swim activity profiles to its gym and watersport features, the PACE 2 is an extremely versatile and stylish fitness companion.
