This affordable massage gun is designed by physical therapists Bob and Brad

Bob and Brad C2 massage gun review

I wasn’t familiar with Bob and Brad before this brilliant massage gun arrived on my doorstep, but now I’m totally obsessed. These two physical therapists have amassed millions of followers on YouTube, and it’s not hard to see why: they’re funny, charismatic and they know their onions. Think Bob Ross, but for you plantar fasciitis.

But it’s not all style – there’s undoubtedly masses of substance here, too. The C2 massage gun is a genuinely brilliant bit of kit that packs a powerful punch at an impressively affordable price point. I gave it a test run, and this is how it went…

First impressions

The Bob and Brad C2 massage gun comes in a handy carry case, which is a must in my opinion: if you’re exercising while travelling or spending a lot of time at the gym it’s essential that your massage gun is portable. It also comes with everything you need to charge it up, setup instructions and five interchangeable heads: the most of any massage gun within its price range that I’ve tested so far.

Getting started was simple, and it didn’t take long until the fast-charing battery was ready to go (extra points for the USB-C charging port, which is universally the most useful in my humble opinion). It’s also worth noting that if you’re going off-road with it and don’t have access to a mains outlet, then it works brilliantly with a rechargeable battery pack – a great option for trail runners and adventurers.

It’s got the power

Testing time. I’ve just come back from a five-mile run after a couple of weeks off for illness, and I know my calves are going to have something to say on the matter. The brilliant thing about the Bob and Brad gun is the wealth of information that can be found on their website and YouTube channel. It doesn’t take long for me to find their recommendations for calf massage, and I start with the air cushion head to reduce sensitivity while working into the muscle. Interestingly, I’ve never found the air cushion head to be particularly useful when testing other massage guns – it’s usually an attachment that you add to a flat head or ball head, and it does alleviate pressure slightly but generally makes little different. With the Bob and Brad C2, it’s an attachment unto itself, and I can finally understand its benefits. It manages to alleviate some of the usual discomfort of calf massage and I can definitely still notice the difference the morning after.

There are five speed settings as well as five interchangeable heads, so you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck when it comes to versatility. I’m so impressed by how powerful the motor is, with a max speed of 3200rpm. Despite its lightweight feel (it’s only 680g!), it delivers a full sports massage that you’d expect from a gun much larger and pricier.

Bob and Brad C2 massage gun: the verdict

This massage gun has got to be my new favourite. It has the power and versatility to compete with much higher-priced guns on the market, and is perfect if you’re new to the world of massage guns. Perhaps my favourite thing about it is its battery life: by far the most long-lasting of any gun I’ve tried, this clever tech supplied by Tesla lasts for ages (I’d give you specifics, but it still hasn’t run out days after first charging!) and is really quick to charge up. What sets it apart from competitors is undeniably the brilliance of Bob and Brad, who can provide expert advice on your aches and pains at the click of a button – you can find their YouTube channel here.

If you’re having doubts as to whether a massage gun is worth the money, I’d highly recommend giving this one a shot. It’s so affordable for what it offers, and the expert guidance you can find through Bob and Brad is incomparable to your average instruction manual.
