The results from our 2021 Women's Running Awards are in! Here's the clothing our team of testers loved...

Welcome to the 2021 Women’s Running Awards! This is the moment we’ve been waiting for all year: the moment that our trusted panel of happy runners gather together to thrash out the best of the best: we’ve tested over 300 new products and have now rated the best running shoes, clothes, tech, underwear, nutrition and training gear. It’s taken over four months of dedicated testing and deliberation, and probably more running than we do all year, to make sure that we put every single piece of kit through its paces.

We’ve worn and washed this year’s best kit over and over again, and our nine different testers have come together to share which clothes they liked the most. Here’s what came out on top…

The best women’s running tops

Award winner: Keela Women's ViralOff Short Sleeve Top

Winner: KEELA Women’s Trail Short Sleeve Top £29.95

This Keela tee has a wicking first layer and a ViralOff treatment which reduces viruses by 99 percent after two hours. With its antibacterial component to reduce sweat smells, it was a favourite top for the test team. Chrissie said: “It’s lightweight and breathable, the fit is snug, and the arms and waist are both a good length.”

Award winner: Decathlon Kalenji Half-Zip Run Warm Top

Best Value: DECATHLON Kalenji Half-Zip Run Warm Top £9.99

The Kalenji Half-Zip is a beautifully soft jersey that will protect you from the cold, at an unbeatable price. “Really great fit and warm material; it’s simple but effective,” said Sab. Sophie said: “It’s made from 91 percent recycled polyester which is good on eco credentials and it washed well.”

Award winner: Zerofit Cool Weave Baselayer

Editor’s Choice: ZEROFIT Cool Weave Baselayer £50

This top is incredible and won’t let you down, even in variable weather. It’s made with EVACOOL fabric which prevents you from overheating and dropping performance levels in warmer conditions. Tina said: “This top has lots of tiny holes to transport your sweat away. It’s also a brilliant baselayer to wear in the cooler months for hiking and wild camping.”

The best women’s running bottoms

Award winner: Sweaty Betty Power Gym Leggings

Winner: SWEATY BETTY Power Gym Leggings £75

SB Power Gym Leggings are a favourite of the nation’s athletes, so it’s no surprise they won this category. Esther said: “They’re the best leggings I’ve ever run in. I finally understand why everyone loves SB: the fit is fantastic – they don’t budge; the thigh pocket is great; they don’t dig in; the fabric is immense. I just love them, they’re worth every penny.”

Award winner: Decathlon Kalenji Dry Shortie Suit

Best Value: DECATHLON Kalenji Run Dry Shortie Suit £19.99

A stylish design for summer pursuits, the Kalenji Run Dry Shortie suit is cute. “Bloody amazing!” said Sab, and we agree. “The 2-in-1 design is great for those of us not wanting to wear cycling shorts,” said Meg, and Mara also loved them: “This is easy to wear, and I really liked the elasticated waist.”

Award winner: Flanci Supernova Skirt

Editor’s Choice: FLANCI Supernova Skort £39.50

The Flanci Supernova skort is versatile and we loved the storage options of a no-bounce thigh pocket and a rear zipped pocket – such a winning design. “I loved the very deep, slimline waistband which was flattering and had internal ties to secure it,” said Sophie. “The shorts and skort are a longer length for more coverage. Great quality and well priced.”

The best women’s running jackets

Award winner: Adidas Terrex Agravic Pro RAIN.RDY Trail Jacket

Winner: ADIDAS Terrex Agravic Pro RAIN.RDY Trail Jacket £250

We can’t recommend this jacket enough, especially if you’re searching for a waterproof and breathable layer for autumn. We were blown away by its ultralight design. Meg said: “The vents at the back have been designed to allow you to chuck over a bag which is ideal for trail runs.”

Award winner: Skechers Apparel Gowalk Mesh Jacket

Best Value: SKECHERS Apparel Gowalk Mesh Jacket £70

The soft GOFLEX nylon Spandex and mesh fabric of this Skechers jacket means it feels divine against your skin, and holds its shape so well – all at such unbeatable value. “I loved working out in this figure-hugging jacket, it has a lovely cotton-like feel to absorb sweat,” said Meg.

Award winner: Keela Storm Jacket

Editor’s Choice: KEELA Storm Jacket £104.95

It’s lightweight and stylish, comes in vivid colours and is great for winter with its large hood. Chrissie said: “I love how it packs into a bag without taking up much space. There are four pockets, including one on the back. The hood is big enough to fi t a bobble hat underneath and the jacket is really breathable. The bright colour and refl ective strips are good for dull light conditions.”
