All the gear we're loving for safe running and home cross-training this month
If this winter felt long, then March 2020 has been its very own decade. Despite the circumstances, we’re feeling pretty positive about the arrival of April: the sun is shining, the evenings are longer and running has become an even more vital part of our daily lives. Here’s some lovely gear that we hope will put the same spring in your step – we’ve even included some cross-training goodies to kickstart your home workouts.
1. UNDER ARMOUR Forefront Rain Jacket | £45.97
You’ll need a jacket to protect you from those April showers – this one from Under Armour is a great choice. It’s nice and fitted without that uncomfortable squeeze and repels rain without sacrificing breathability.
2. HOKA ONE ONE TOR 30L Pack | £140
HOKA have long been a Women’s Running favourite, so we were thrilled when they expanded their range to include accessories and apparel last month. This backpack is any trail runner’s best friend, with attachments for poles and space for a 2L water bladder among its brilliant design features.
3. BROOKS Distance Graphic Tee | £30
This Brooks tee is simple and fun, designed to go the distance. It’s lightweight and quick-drying, perfect for a 5K jog and equally high-performing if you’re training for a full marathon. Plus, it’s made from 88% recycled materials.
4. MAAREE Solidarity High-Impact Sports Bra | £59
We love this sports bra so much that we went ahead and made it official – it’s one of our Best in Test winners. It’s so cleverly designed, with elasticated wings as opposed to an elasticated body, reducing bounce and distributing pressure evenly. A go-to bra for runners with bigger boobs.
5. FITNESS MAD Skipping Rope | £6.75
If you’re trying to get as much cardio in as possible without leaving the house then a skipping rope could be really useful. With this one, available from Up & Running, you can select the perfect length for you and get skipping!
6. SWEATY BETTY Power Workout Leggings | £75
These leggings are perfect for both long runs and cross-training sessions, with handy pockets and that all-important drawstring at the waist. The fabric is so flattering and we’re big fans of the patriotic print.
7. HILLY Skyline Anklet | £11
A good pair of socks are a must, especially for trail running, and these ones from Hilly are perfect if you’re going off-road. They’ll help keep your ankles stable and give you that lovely midsole cushioning that you don’t get from your average sock.
9. ON RUNNING Cloudflow | £130
Available in multiple colours, these running shoes are your training partner and your race-day friend. Lightweight and cushioned, they’re great for longer races, tempo runs and interval training. Like all On shoes the grip is exceptional and the traction pattern will serve you well on wet roads.
