The Great Wall Marathon on the 21st May 2016 is widely considered one of the world’s most challenging marathons. Despite the arduous course on the iconic Great Wall of China, runners are rewarded by the breathtaking surroundings and views. As the route leads participants on a stunning course up (and down!) the wall and into the villages, onlookers will be cheering and the festive atmosphere is a real energy boost!

The Great Wall Marathon is part of a series of challenging marathon events by Danish travel company Albatros Travel that arranges five Albatros Adventure Marathons annually. Apart from the Great Wall Marathon, the company organises the Big Five Marathon in the African savannah among the wildlife, the Polar Circle Marathon run on the thousand-year-old Greenland Ice Sheet, the Petra Desert Marathon which takes place in the ancient city of Petra and its surrounding desert, and finally the Bagan Temple Marathon, an event held in the magical temple-dotted plains of Bagan in Myanmar.
