Whether you’re an experienced runner, or you’re just getting started, The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon has a lot to offer. It’s scenic, flat and family friendly, not to mention, well organized and reasonably priced!

The full half-marathon distance costs £37.5 to enter, which includes a beautiful medal and warm headwrap at the finish line, along with a few other bonus goodies. The course follows a fully-closed and professionally marked and measured route out from Woking town into the glorious countryside surrounding Woking and Guildford. Race organizers are so on point with water stations, bag drop, entertainment and refreshments, the British Association of Road Races saw fit to grant them the Gold Award for outstanding race management. These guys know what they’re doing so you wont need to worry about lengthy waits and poor signage.

The race also has live music, numerous water stations and, like all great community running events, a warm and energetic bunch of cheering supporters. And the course really is fast and flat, it even holds one of the fastest half marathon course records of 01:02 hrs.

The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is an exceptional choice for charity runners too; the event raises an estimated £0.4 million for charity every year.

Not sure you want to go the full 13.1? No problem. There’s a 5k race option (£17) which boasts a lead car, professional route marking, a water station, a great mix of urban and rural scenery and according to the website “unparallelled PB potential” (what a delightful phrase).

Want to get the kids involved? Race organizers have you covered. There’s a 2K kids race for ages 6-16 (£12). Of course you can still chaperone your child if you wish, but with full road closures in place and a dedicated team of volunteers, the safety of every child is fully addressed and catered for, regardless of whether you’re holding their hand as they cross the finish-line, or you’re cheering them on from the sidelines. And of course, every child who finishes the kids race, gets their very own medal. The event village is family-friendly too,  with a variety of activities on offer; including live video streaming on a giant TV screen, dance performances, live music, charity stalls, shops, cafe’s and more.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, the Mercer Surrey Half Marathon was also voted by runners as “The UK’s Best Road Run”, in the 2016 racecheck awards.

But…what does the medal look like? I hear my fellow bling lovers ask. Here’s a snap of last years medal to give you an idea of the kind of quality you can expect, feast your eyes, friends…

It’s gold, it’s shiny, it will be mine!

The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon celebrates its 5th year on 11th March 2018. 6000 runners, including 550 children, will once again descend on Woking Leisure Centre to take part, want to join them?
