About one in 700 babies are born with a cleft lip and or/palate. It is estimated that 250,000 babies are born with a cleft each year throughout the world. By funding research into operating techniques and exploring the underlying causes of clefts, CLEFT aims to improve care for children with cleft lip and palate – wherever in the world they are born. CLEFT also works closely with several cleft teams in developing countries, including Sri Lanka, Uganda, Bangladesh and Egypt, providing equipment, training and ongoing support. By running for CLEFT, you can help create a world where children are not stigmatised or bullied because they were born with a cleft.
