Signed up for the Reading Half? Fear not - the event has been rescheduled
Last week, organisers of the Reading Half Marathon and Green Park Challenge announced that, due to government regulations surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, the event would not take place in April 2020. With no new date confirmed, thousands of runners were left wondering what would happen to their 2020 place.
It has now been announced that the Reading Half Marathon will go ahead on 1 November 2020. In a statement from Race Director Judith Manson that was released to the public today, organisers acknowledged that autumn will be a very busy time for events, but that they had been working tirelessly to reschedule the event rather than cancel altogether.
The Green Park Challenge, an accompanying 3km family fun run, will also be rescheduled for 1 November.
They thanked those involved for remaining positive and standing with them in a difficult time, confirming that all runners entered in the April 2020 race will have their place automatically transferred to the November date.
The following months will be spent planning for a 1 November race day, working with stakeholders and partners to bring runners and spectators the best possible event. Organisers will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and make decisions based on government advice.
