Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon
Entries opened up last week for the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield, taking place 10 April. This inaugural event hit the Steel City on April 12 this year and proved an immediate success, attracting thousands of runners. Entries are now priced at £30.10. Enter here.
Keswick Mountain Festival
This week, Keswick Mountain Festival opened up entries for 2016, announcing its biggest ever programme of outdoor and sporting activities. The 2016 Keswick Mountain Festival sports programme, running from Thursday 19 until Sunday 22 May, will include popular races from recent years, plus the addition of some new events. Running and triathlon events will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, to give people the opportunity to enter more than one race in the same discipline over the weekend. The popular Keswick Mountain Festival Trail Races and Triathlons will return, with a variety of distances on offer and changes to some courses. This year’s event sold out well before the festival, so it’s worth booking now. Everyone who books a place on a KMF sporting event will also be entitled to claim one free ticket to attend either the Friday or Saturday night concert in the Keswick Mountain Festival Village on Crow Park. Hell Up North
After huge success last weekend, Hell Up North, the UK’s toughest half-marathon, has opened up entries for 2016 at an early bird price of £30. The event features natural obstacles, including neck-deep bogs and ‘Hill of Hell’ and attracted well over a 1,000 runners at this year’s event. The event will take place at Delamore Forest, Cheshire on 29 April.
Great Manchester Run
Last week, entries opened up for the Morrisons 2016 Great Manchester Run – the UK’s largest 10K event. The route takes in some of the city’s most iconic locations including Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium and the award-winning Imperial War Museum and, each year, attracts thousands of runners, including world-famous athletes and celebrities. Sport Relief Games 2016
Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games will return again in 2016 and will open for entries at the end of November. Events will include one, three and six-mile running events, 25 and 50 mille sportives and 1.5K to 5K swimathons. Of all the money raised by the public through Sport Relief, 50% is used to fund UK projects, and the other 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities. WR10K Race Series 2016
The WR10K Race Series is now open for entry! This summer, the WR10K Race Series, which brings 10 fun and friendly women-only races to locations across the country, attracted runners in there thousands. Due to overwhelming popularity and demand for events in further locations this year, the WR10K Race Series will expand to new locations for 2016, while also returning to some of its most popular venues.
