On Sunday 25 August Yorkshire’s Food Capital, Malton, will play host to the tastiest 10K in Britain. The Marathon du Malton, inspired by the Marathon du Médoc (a famous French race that takes runners on a romp though the vineyards), is a 10K walk, run or stagger through the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside – with a tasty twist!
The race starts and finishes in Malton’s Market place with a winding route through the Yorkshire town that showcases some of the best locally-made gourmet food and drink available.
The race starts with a toast of wine, followed by food and drink stops around the course, with runners (or walkers!) being encouraged to take their time and enjoy the party atmosphere. Both the participants and their supporters are urged to don their best food-themed fancy dress, too!
Award-winning beer, mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, macarons and even some tasty vegan treats will be on offer around the course, all from local producers.
Malton has a rich history as Yorkshire’s Food Capital and also hosts the annual Food Lovers Festival in May, as well as their Street Food Sunday event throughout the summer months. Anyone not participating in the 10K can enjoy the street food market between 10am and 4pm.
There are still a few tickets left for the event, which costs £25 including all the food and drink on the course, which are available at www.visitmalton.com.
