Run in the footsteps of Dame Kelly Holmes and support the reforestation of the Zomba Forest
Ultra runner Susie Chan is inviting runners to join her in Malawi to take part in a running challenge while helping local charity projects. Susie follows in the footsteps of Dame Kelly Holmes in headlining the 2020 Orbis Trail Challenge.
Susie Chan will be joined by 30 runners to take on three incredible trail runs through southern Malawi. Applications are now open for runners wanting to join the team to take on a 25km extreme mountain trail run, a 20km forest run, and a 20km Lake Malawi village trail run. The team will be joined by a group of Malawian runners who will act as guides and support crew to the runners.

In the past 30 years Malawi has lost more than 85% of its trees. This year’s Orbis Trail Challenge will be raising awareness and funds to support the reforestation and environmental education taking place around Zomba Forest Plateau. The project aims to raise £10,000 for TREEZ, a local charity based within the heart of Zomba Forest which aims to replant, protect existing forests and include community members in the reforestation of this fragile region of Malawi.
