Ultrarunner Jasmin Paris has reportedly smashed the female record for one of the toughest challenges in UK trail running.
If the 32-year-old’s time is verified, she will have slashed more than two-and-a-half hours off the current female record for the Bob Graham Round, set by Nicky Spinks in 2015.
Her finishing time of 15hrs 24mins is also one of the five quickest times in history, only one hour and 42 minutes off the fastest Bob Graham Round record set by Billy Bland in 1982.
The grueling Bob Graham Round is a 66-mile, 27,000ft circuit of 42 of the highest peaks in the Lake District – all which must be run in 24 hours. The circuit was first completed by Bob Graham in 1932, and since then, it’s become the trail runner’s ultimate challenge. Only one in three who take on the Round actually cross the finish line.
Although relatively new to long-distance racing, Jasmin set a record in last year’s 61-mile Fellsman race challenge, as well coming second overall in the Berghaus Dragon’s Black Race, which runs the length of Wales.
Jasmin, a member of the Edinburgh Carnethy Hill Running Club, now has her sights set on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race. On current form, few would bet against her!
