Runderwear's new virtual event aims to keep our spirits high and our training on-track
We don’t know about you, but as the weather gets warmer, we’re itching to sign up to a new challenge. While we’re still not quite sure when we’ll be back racing in-person, Runderwear have created a Festival of Running to keep our spirits high and our training on-track.
“For many of us, the joy of running is routed in the friends we make and the fun we have, as we train together and race together,” say the team at Runderwear. “Without a goal to aim for, or the joyful chats as we lope along next to each other, things can feel that little bit harder.”
Over the Easter Weekend, 2nd-4th April, they’re hosting a virtual 5K, 10K and half-marathon. Every entrant will receive a free 8-week training plan created by Tom Craggs, Road Running manager at England Athletics, with options available for Beginner, Improver and Experienced runners across all distances.
But this is more than just a virtual event – over the coming weeks, Runderwear will be encouraging us to support each other and make new running friendships with ideas, challenges and live events. “A virtual race will give us a purpose to our training, but it doesn’t replace the collective positivity that training and racing with friends generates,” they explain. “We want to help you stay as motivated and as positive as possible.”
As well as medals (made from sustainable wood, no less!), there are Runderwear vouchers to be won for all distances – visit runderwear.co.uk to find out more. Early bird entry is £10 until 28th February, and £12 from the 1st March.
