Hero of the week: Louise Casey, hotel marathon runner

Read Time:   |  April 24, 2020

We’re are having ALL the feels for Louise Casey, hotel marathon runner extraordinaire!

Louise Casey is our current hero. The 40-year-old club runner from Warrington works for Premier Inn Warrington Central North, and this week on her night shift, no less, she ran an entire marathon inside the hotel.

“With this virus around and everyone having to stay at home, I saw a few people on Facebook running around their gardens, so I had a light bulb moment and thought why don’t I run a marathon inside my place of work,” says Louise when we spoke to her after her incredible achievement.

“During my night shift I rang my manager and she said, ‘go for it, Lou!’. So I went to JustGiving and set up two charity fundraising pages: one being the NHS because they need all the help they can get right now, and the other being Great Ormand Street Hospital.”

An astonishing achievement. And now she’s completed it, she’s applied for a Guinnes World Record for the fastest marathon in a Premier Inn Hotel, but we have to wait and see if she gets it! “I would say to anyone, get yourselves out and do a bit of exercise on your own (or two metres apart at the minute), set yourself a challenge, and while you’re doing it you can raise a bit of money for charity.” Well said, Louise! Congrats on your incredible marathon – what a superstar!
